Director of Technical Services (Renewable energy industry)

Position: Director of Technical Services
Reports to: Chief Operating Officer
Position Summary:
The Director of Technical Services is responsible for all technical aspects of project development and operations, enabling the company to achieve its long-term goals and objectives. This role demands a deep understanding of renewable energy technologies, particularly utility-scale solar, and experience in renewable project development within the Philippine context. The candidate must possess strong leadership and technical skills, as well as the ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee a team of engineers and technical specialists, providing day-to-day leadership and direction consistent with the company’s goals and objectives.
- Provide guidance and leadership on technical issues, resolve complex technical problems with creative and innovative solutions, and ensure timely completion of all technical deliverables.
- Lead the conceptual system design development, value engineering, and optimization efforts for solar power plant projects, including high-voltage systems and grid interconnection.
- Lead the development and continuous improvement of internal technical standards for renewable energy installations, particularly solar PV and associated major plant equipment.
- Lead the development of company standards, inspection protocols, and technical documentation requirements.
- Oversee the development of technical terms of reference, scope of work, specifications, and other technical requirements for requisitioning third-party services.
- Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of technical services as per requirements.
- Contribute to strategic planning and strategy implementation, ensuring alignment with company goals and objectives.
- Manage the technical aspects of potential and ongoing renewable energy projects in all project phases, ensuring projects meet technical requirements and quality standards.
- Provide team mentorship, training, and development.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related technical field.
- Registered Electrical Engineer; Professional Electrical Engineer preferred.
- Advanced or master’s degree in engineering, Renewable Energy, or an MBA is preferred.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) / Certified Energy Manager or equivalent is a plus.
- At least 15 years of experience with a developer/owner, EPC, or utility, with at least 10 years managing/leading technical teams.
- Proven track record in leading the technical aspects of utility-scale solar development in the Philippines.
- High-voltage and interconnection (transmission/distribution) experience.
- Deep understanding of renewable energy technologies, particularly solar PV plant design, technical standards and specifications of major plant equipment, interconnection facilities, and auxiliary systems.
- Knowledge of EPC contracting for large-scale energy projects.
- Familiarity with industry standards and best practices for renewable energy installations, including the Philippine Grid Code and Philippine Distribution Code.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
- Familiarity with project management software, solar power plant design software (PVSyst), and other relevant software, tools, and technologies.
- Understanding of the regulatory process related to renewable energy projects.
Pay: Php180,000.00 - Php250,000.00 per month
