Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Network Security Engineer with a focus on Cisco Umbrella to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will progress from Level 2 to Level 3 responsibilities, taking on more complex tasks and leadership roles in managing and optimizing our Cisco Umbrella implementation. This role involves ensuring robust network security, handling advanced configurations, and providing expert support to the team.

This role involves ensuring robust network security, handling advanced configurations, and providing expert support to the team.
Key Responsibilities:
Level 2 Responsibilities:
- Policy Management: Create, modify, and manage filtering and security policies within Cisco Umbrella.
- User and Group Management: Add, remove, and manage users and groups, including role-based access control.
- DNS Filtering: Configure and maintain DNS filtering settings to block malicious domains.
- Reporting and Monitoring: Generate and review activity reports, and monitor real-time security events.
- Troubleshooting: Provide Level 2 support for network security issues related to Cisco Umbrella.
- Integration Support: Assist with integrating Cisco Umbrella with other security tools and platforms.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of configurations, policies, and procedures.
- Advanced Threat Detection: Implement advanced threat intelligence feeds and ensure real-time threat updates.
- SSL Decryption and Inspection: Configure and optimize SSL decryption settings to balance security and performance.
- Application Control: Develop and enforce granular application control policies.
- Performance Optimization: Regularly review and optimize Cisco Umbrella configurations for peak performance.
- Incident Response: Lead the response to major security incidents, providing expert analysis and resolution.
- Integration and Automation: Develop and implement automation scripts and integrations with SIEM and other security tools.
- Proactive Monitoring: Establish and manage proactive health monitoring and alerting for Cisco Umbrella services.
- Training and Mentoring: Provide training and mentoring to Level 1 and Level 2 staff, enhancing the overall skill set of the team.
- Project Leadership: Lead network security projects, including deployment of new features and large-scale configurations.
- Compliance and Audits: Ensure compliance with security policies and standards, and assist with internal and external audits.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- 3-5 years of experience in network security, with at least 2 years focused on Cisco Umbrella.
- Proven experience with policy management, threat detection, and incident response.
- In-depth knowledge of Cisco Umbrella and its advanced features.
- Strong understanding of DNS security, web traffic inspection, and SSL decryption.
- Experience with integrating Cisco Umbrella with other security tools and platforms.
- Proficiency in scripting and automation (e.g., Python, Power Shell).
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Relevant Cisco certifications (e.g., CCNA Security, CCNP Security, Cisco Umbrella Specialist) are highly desirable
