Position Summary
The Senior Accountant serves as dedicated accountant for the Johannesburg Office and support for global accounting tasks. The role is primarily responsible for specified accounting tasks relating to reviewing, resolving escalations, and transitioning of Local Office account reconciliations and reporting. This function performs maintaining the general ledger, reviewing financial statements, assisting with local and statutory reporting, supporting audits (internal and external), and reconciling accounts across our global network.

Our Functional Area
The Global Finance team is led by the Firm’s CFO, Steve Wrede, and is made up of approximately 280 team members around the world. Committed to our 2020 strategy for profitable growth, our core functions include billing and collecting Firm invoices, statutory accounting for the Firm and for individual offices, creating and distributing management reports, processing payments to vendors or reimbursements to employees and managing payroll for our people. Our team’s remit includes partner compensation and the maintenance of partner equity accounts; strategic procurement of vendor services; global tax strategies; inventory management, and finally analysis of the profitability of clients, matters and groups of timekeeper. We work with partners and with other business services groups to establish hourly billing rates as well as client-specific fee arrangements. Our Treasury team is responsible for global cash management, foreign currencies and hedging.
In consultation with Firm leaders, we set annual global revenue and expense budgets across Regional Sections and offices, including legal and business service departments. The team continuously reviews expenditures throughout the year to ensure that the Firm’s resources are being used efficiently.

Duties and Accountabilities1
  • Perform dedicated accounting tasks and reports to the Johannesburg Office ensuring compliance with both local regulations and firm's accounting standards
  • Prepare, review, and handle escalations and recommend resolution on Balance Sheet and P&L global account analyses
  • Post necessary general journals on adjustments derived from analyses, reconciliations, or audit
  • Prepare and review various reconciliation schedules: Bank, VAT, Payroll and Fixed Assets
  • Calculate the expense forecast and prepare monthly management expense analysis
  • Assist with the audit requirements
  • Conduct training for refresher, new hire, and cross trainings
  • Create and update process documentations
  • Other adhoc tasks required by Manager and/or Stakeholders

Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Accountancy graduate.
  • At least 5 years experience in general accounting tasks.
  • Must have work experience in a BPO, shared service, multinational or audit firm.
  • Experienced working knowledge in Microsoft excel, Word and Power Point.
  • Experienced working knowledge in any financial software such as Elite 3E.
  • Required knowledge in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Preferred knowledge in International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).

  • This role is based in Manila.
  • This role reports to Assistant Manager, Accounting.
