Summary: We are looking for an experienced Cost Accountant to join our Product Development Department (PDD) in a luxury furniture business. The ideal candidate will be highly observant, proactive, and detail-oriented when it comes to managing and analyzing costs. This role requires a strong ability to assess supplier pricing, identify discrepancies, and ensure fair and competitive pricing for materials and products.
Job Responsibilities:
Cost Management and Analysis:

• Monitor and evaluate all costs associated with product development, ensuring alignment with company budgets and financial goals.
• Analyze supplier quotes and compare them with historical data to ensure fairness and accuracy in pricing.
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies in cost variations between suppliers and internally.
• Ensure all cost data is accurate, up-to-date, and properly allocated to each product.

Supplier Cost Control:

• Negotiate and challenge suppliers on pricing to ensure the company receives the best value without compromising on quality.
• Maintain strong communication with suppliers to understand their pricing structures and any changes that might impact cost.
• Review cost-related documents such as invoices and purchase orders to verify accuracy and reasonableness of pricing.

Cost Reporting and Auditing:

• Prepare detailed cost reports, including cost-benefit analyses, to support decision-making in the PDD department.
• Conduct regular audits of product costing to ensure financial accuracy and identify any potential areas for cost-saving.
• Collaborate with the finance team to ensure all costs are accounted for in the company’s financial statements.

Price Discrepancy Investigation:

• Actively review and investigate any price differences between suppliers, identifying the root cause and ensuring transparency.
• Recommend actions to rectify pricing anomalies, ensuring fair and consistent pricing across all products.

Collaboration with PDD Team:

• Work closely with the product development team to ensure that cost considerations are taken into account during the design and production process.
• Provide cost insights during new product introductions, ensuring alignment with company profitability goals.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a Cost Accountant, preferably in the luxury furniture or related industry.
• Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to challenge and question supplier pricing effectively.
• Proficiency in accounting software, ERP/SAP systems, and advanced spreadsheet management.
• Sharp analytical skills with the ability to identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Active, intelligent, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
