Assistant Manager to Manager, Compliance & Enforcement

The Travel Agents & Tourist Guides (TATG) Division is seeking a dynamic, passionate and self-driven individual to be part of Compliance and Enforcement (C&E) team that oversees regulatory matters concerning Travel Agents (TA) and Tourist Guides (TG). The role involves handling feedback from members of public and stakeholders, developing operational plans and enforcement initiatives for industry compliance. Additionally, the officer will conduct investigations into contraventions under the Singapore Tourism Board Act 1963 and the Travel Agents Act 1975.
[What you will be working on]
- As a member of the C&E team, you will develop and execute new strategies for proactive efforts to ensure industry compliance. You will have the opportunity to plan and operationalize industry checks to ensure compliance with legislation and licensing conditions by TA and TG licensees. You will be introduced to data analytics and statistics to identify lapses and opportunities in the industry, and develop resource efficient initiatives.
- You will have the opportunity to work closely with other government agencies as part of joint operations and investigative work. You will be conducting investigations against entities and/or individuals on non-compliance, unlicensed operations and complaint cases relating to TAs and TGs.
- As part of the investigative aspect of the work, you will conduct investigations which include interviewing and recording statements from relevant parties, gathering evidence and preparing investigation reports to recommend enforcement action to be taken against offenders. You will be required to assist Legal/AGC in the prosecution process.
- You will also be involved in conducting regular reviews of internal regulatory frameworks and SOPs to ensure that compliance and enforcement operations continue to meet policy intent and remain relevant to the tourism landscape. This will allow for cross department/divisional collaborations.
[What we are looking for]
- At least 2 years of working experience in the areas of compliance, enforcement and investigations
- Familiar with legislation, Penal Code, Criminal Procedure Code and other related legislation in the conduct of C&E work
- Good verbal and written communications skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Enjoy challenges and problem solving
- Resourceful in obtaining information, data and ground sentiments
- Smart Enforcement / Investigations
- Understand Legislation and Regulations, incorporating Industry perspectives
- Business Data Analytics
- Good business acumen, analytical thinking and judgement
- Working effectively within STB & stakeholders outside STB to achieve results
