Purpose of the Position
To generate insights, recommend business actions and refine scheduling and opportunities within Content toward maximising the share of viewing to the platform.
Key Performance Objectives
Tasks
Audience Insight
  • Provide specialist advice in the usage and interpretation of audience metrics for business to enable performance tracking of channel, genre, package and events
  • Contribute and participate in senior strategic workshops and projects and represent all of CII to the rest of the business
  • Perform various audience analysis by using metrics and measurement systems to provide insight, render advisory services to channels and support business decision-making
  • Ensure reports and metrics are consistent and comparable across channels and programmes
  • Use DStv-i data to articulate audience insights.Have a sound understanding of TAMS
  • Interpret stakeholder strategy and ensure the audience insights are aligned with priorities
  • Identify and execute initiatives according to level of authority where audience insights are not aligned
  • Drive an integrated measurement system across all platforms and content players to measure performance of content initiatives
  • Liaise and promote the use of the standard and automated reporting services and toolsets to Group stakeholders
  • Identify bespoke research requirements based on audience insights
  • Understand other research methodologies both quantitative and qualitative so as to be able to brief and oversee custom research projects
  • Continually evolve the approach to data mining to ensure that insights remain fresh and relevant
  • Understand the drivers of shifts in viewership and how universe updates, RIM weight changes, etc., can influence the data
Reporting
  • Provide timely and accurate reports in accordance with business and management requirements
  • Deliver presentations to relevant stakeholders reporting on viewership trends
  • Report on viewership insights of the connected customer
  • Ensure the data reported on is robust and reliable where representative samples have been used Stakeholder Management
  • Provide specialised and technical support to internal and external stakeholders to ensure achievement of functional and organisational objectives
  • Establish and monitor healthy, diverse internal and external relations and recommend remedial actions where required, in the achievement of organisational goals Qualifications
    Essential
  • Degree/Diploma in Media/Marketing Preferred
  • Degree in Economics/ Marketing/Business advantageous; or
  • 5-8 years or more experience in television audience analysis and insights experience in SA market Experience/Skills
  • 5-8 years’ experience in television audience analysis and insights experience in SA market
  • Familiar with segmentation approaches
  • Familiar with advanced audience measurement methodologies and statistical functions
  • Familiar with other research methodologies both quantitative and qualitative as well as modelling techniques
  • Good understanding of audience metrics and the terminology thereof
  • Knowledge of various software systems – Info Sys, Tech Edge, Transmit, Tableau
  • An understanding of MCA’s Multi Choice’s technologies and package offerings and how MCA the group’s playout systems work is preferred Technical Competencies
