Position Name: Finance Manager – Super Sport
Reports to: Head of Finance
Division: Super Sport
Department: Finance
Number of Direct Reports: 3
Key Customers: Head of Finance, Finance Analysts, CEO, Head of Departments, Vendors, Shared Services Teams, Group Functions and Reporting Teams, Internal & External Auditors.
Location: Based in South Africa, Johannesburg, Randburg
Purpose of the Position:
- Responsible for the end-to-end activities of the finance function, management reports, budgets and forecasts, and financial planning. Support the business unit in analysing and improving financial results and supporting the business strategic objectives. Here the most attention will be paid to cost & revenue analysis and modelling, variance analysis and compliance activities.
Business Partnering
- Provide end-to-end support to the various Business Units on all Finance related matters.
- Manage Revenue Forecasts & Revenue recognition.
- Work closely with management to identify revenue opportunities and prepare adequate forecasts.
- Prepare the budget and forecast based on inputs and engagement with the Business Unit. The budget should fairly reflect the cost of the department, manage costs effectively and align expenditure to key strategic focus areas of the company.
- Proactively partner with the business to identify and evaluate opportunities to improve bottom line business performance and ensure that change initiatives are implemented.
- Policy and governance custodian for the business unit.
- Identify policy & process improvement opportunities.
- Participate in designing and implementing new processes and policies where required.

Local & Foreign Currency payment process and funding
Prioritise and manage business demands and business partner expectations. - Month end close and reconciliations.
- Iniitiation and/or approval of expenses to confirm validity and availability of budget.
- Consolidations and reporting of financial results.
- Manage working capital.
- Management of non-permanent staff payroll, to ensure accuracy and timeous submission of invoices.
- Provide additional meaningful ad hoc financial analysis as required.
- Manage the Tax and VAT computations with Shared Services Centre.
- Preparation and presentation of budgets and forecast for the business unit.
- Manage the reporting process and compliance in the respective Business Units.
- Analyses of monthly expenses and revenues in detail. Investigate and interpret variances against budget/forecast and prior year and provide analysis of differences.
- Assist management in exploring potential opportunities.
- Monthly rolling forecasts for Income Statement, Cash Flows and CAPEX
- Review and submit consolidated 24-month Treasury cash flow forecasts.
- Prepare data models to assist decision making
- Report on savings identified and achieved
- Direct all ongoing financial activities associated with month-end, half year and year-end and ensure delivery within set Reporting timelines
- Review month-end entries including accruals
- Review for accuracy and quality of the balance sheet reconciliations
- Assist in preparing schedules for internal and external audit
- Consult with the Shared Services Central Accounting team on continuous improvement and timeous execution of deliverables
- Prepare Technical Analysis of accounting and tax treatment of transactions where required
- Responsible for notes and commentary for external and statutory reporting
- Review of annual financial statements for company, joint ventures and subsidiaries
- Co-ordinate, collate and manage the delivery of Super Sport reporting for Internal & External audit purposes
- Evaluate all investment decisions, including capital expenditure proposal and provide expertise accordingly.
- Evaluate commercial viability of partnerships and new business cases.
- Manage working capital.
- Consult with bankers, auditors, suppliers, and investment partners regarding finance issues.
- Review of contracts to ensure that they are in line with procurement policy, financial objectives, and addresses business risks.
- Take responsibility for team strength and performance level (attraction, selection, retention, and development of Finance team)
- Ensure alignment with Team strength, performance, and energy match strategic requirements – under performers identified, improved, or separated.
- Ensure direct reports live Company values.
- Ensure departmental goals are understood and actively pursued by the team; work accountability clearly delegated.
- Ensure performance reviews are done regularly, everyone has clear picture of current performance, recognition given where it is due and low performers are acted upon

Must have a CA qualification.
- Has about 6 years of experience (Accounting, Finance or Business Administration).
- Business Partnering Experience
- Minimum 3 years people management experience
- Interest in Sport
- Solid SAP system experience
- Sound knowledge of IFRS and Income Tax Act
- Intercompany accounting experience is essential
- Financial Modelling experience
- Advanced Excel skills
- Good communication, presentation skills.
