In this role, you will play a critical part in shaping the future of data centre infrastructure across Africa, leveraging cutting-edge technology to deliver turnkey solutions for our clients. With your multidisciplinary expertise in electrical, mechanical, and IT systems, you will be involved in the installation, commissioning, and optimization of advanced systems that are at the core of our operations. The role is based in Benoni, Gauteng for a 1 year contract, with the option to transition to a permanent position based on performance.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

• System Installation and Commissioning: Lead the installation, commissioning, and roll-out of Internet of Things (Io T) based hardware, Data Centre Infrastructure Management (DCIM) software.
• Cross-Disciplinary Equipment Management: Oversee the installation and commissioning of electrical equipment (e.g., power distribution units, UPS systems) and cooling systems (e.g., CRAC, CRAH units) in data centres.
• Vendor Certification and Expertise: Attain and maintain certifications for commissioning vendor-specific electrical, IT, and cooling equipment relevant to the data centre industry.
• System Optimization: Analyse system performance data to identify improvement opportunities, validate cooling system models, and optimize data centre cooling performance using ML and AI tools.
• Configuration and Setup: Manage the configuration and setup of networking, IT, and cooling systems, ensuring seamless integration and operation.
• Pre-Sales Technical Support: Provide technical expertise to the internal sales team during the pre-sales phase, including system design, specification, and performance analysis.
• Technological Awareness: Stay updated with the latest advancements in electrical, cooling, and IT systems and suggest improvements to enhance data centre infrastructure.

Key Competencies

• Multidisciplinary Engineering Knowledge: Strong understanding of general principles in electrical, mechanical engineering, as well as software and IT systems.
• Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify, analyse, and resolve complex engineering problems involving both electrical, mechanical, and software systems.
• Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with data analysis tools for system performance evaluation, and comfort working with IT systems and software.
• Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Team Collaboration: Ability to work independently or collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Continuous Learning: Commitment to staying updated with the latest advancements in electrical, mechanical, and IT technologies related to data centre industry.

Minimum Requirements

• 3 - 5 years relevant experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, electronic, mechanical, mechatronics, or computer engineering, or a related field.

Remuneration

• R40k – R45k per month (R480k – R540k per annum) gross salary, depending on skillset and experience
