Adjunct Course Instructor

The World Languages and Cultures Department at the University of Utah Asia Campus (U Asia Campus:https://asiacampus.utah.edu/) invites applications for an instructor position (non-career-line, non-tenure-line) of Course Instructor at the U Asia Campus (UAC). This is a temporary position for one semester (and/or summer session); the position’s starting date is February 17, 2025, in the Songdo City, Incheon, South Korea. The responsibilities are to teach:

  • KOREA 2020 (Intermediate Korean II)

This course builds on Intermediate Korean 1 and offers further development of proficiency in all areas at the sentence- and paragraph-level, as well as skill development and cultural knowledge for a broader range of everyday situations. Please note that KOREA 3600 (Intermediate Conversation) is a co-requisite for this course.
  • KOREA 3610 (Intermediate Conversation II)
This course provides students the opportunity to improve their skills in speaking and listening through sentence-building and speaking drills based on current lesson material from the 2020 class. This course is required for students enrolled in 2020 and must be completed to advance to KOREA 3060.
U Asia Campus is part of a multi-university campus in New Songdo City, Incheon, South Korea. The city has a well-established transportation network including Incheon International Airport which allows easy travel to international destinations, as well as a convenient subway to Seoul within an hour. U Asia Campus is recognized as a top global education hub in Northeast Asia and around the world with access to the University of Utah’s diverse faculty, staff, and creative academic culture at the Asia Campus. U Asia Campus hosts several undergraduate programs, including Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Games, Communication, Film and Media Arts, Accounting, Information Systems, Psychology, and Urban Ecology. All non-language courses are conducted in English.

Responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications
Applicants should hold at least Master of Arts degree in Korean language instruction, Korean linguistics, Korean Studies, Teaching Korean as a Foreign Language (TKFL) or a related field. Ph D preferred. Demonstrated experience in teaching Korean as a second language at the university level and native or near-native fluency in both Korean and English are required. Experience with and interest in teaching in a multilingual context are preferred, and international teaching experience is also preferred.
