Position Summary

We are looking for an Associate Specialist Big Data Statistics, to join our team and contribute to the development of automated approaches for the acquisition and treatment of large amounts of data from agricultural sensors and measurement devices. In this role, you will introduce data analysis methods suited for the treatment of big data in agriculture and collaborate with senior statisticians to validate statistical results.

Nestlé Research is based in Lausanne, Switzerland, employs approximately 1000 people and is comprised of five Nestlé Institutes: Food Sciences, Health Sciences, Food Safety & Analytical Sciences, Packaging Sciences, and Agricultural Sciences. A Day in the Life of an Associate Specialist Big Data Statistics

Propose statistical approaches for analyzing experiments that generate large amounts of data
Program data acquisition, treatment, and analysis scripts in a statistical programming environment
Present results to the project team and assist in interpreting the findings
Provide accurate and timely advice and support to research efforts in data acquisition, treatment, and statistical analysis
Contribute to peer-reviewed scientific publications, scientific communications, and patents
Actively monitor relevant external partners in academia and industry, supporting the selection and establishment of strategic relationships

What will make you successful

MSc or Ph.D. in statistics with experience in agricultural or livestock sciences, sustainability, or a similar background
Knowledge of statistical programming and handling big data
Familiarity with regenerative agriculture and sustainability issues
Strong analytical and organizational skills
Excellent communication skills in English with scientific and business partners
Strong work ethic
Ability to contribute to a climate for innovation and knowledge sharing
Collaborative and positive mindset
