Context:
The Strategic Planning and Results Division (SRD) within the Office of Strategy and
Organizational Performance leads results-based management at the institutional level. The
Division provides guidance to staff across the Organization on results-based management and
strategic planning in line with the IOM Strategic Plan 2024-2028. The Strategic Plan is
complemented by the Strategic Results Framework (SRF) which is the framework to measure
and track progress on the strategic objectives. SRD promotes consistency in planning,
monitoring, and reporting of institutional results at global, regional, and country level.
Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Strategic Planning and Results Division, and the
direct supervision of the Results-based Management Officer (for SRF), the Planning Support
Officer will support IOM’s global planning, monitoring and reporting functions with a particular
focus on the IOM’s Strategic Results Framework rollout into projects and strategies, as well as
supporting SRF-aligned processes: workplans, data collection (e.g. IQ) and institutional
Core Functions / Responsibilities:
1. Support the rollout of the Strategic Plan and the Strategic Results Framework (SRF) in
projects and strategies by assisting to develop tools and resources, supporting with technical
updates and capacity building, including updating the interactive SRF Wheel, visuals on the
Strategic Plan and the SRF and other related resources.
2. Support with consultation and coordination processes between SRD and Regional Offices
(ROs) and/or Country Offices (COs), on priorities related to the Strategic Plan and the SRF,
including organizing regular calls, producing briefing materials and presentations, and drafting
reports/talking points, among other.
3. Support on internal and external communications for the rollout of the Strategic Plan and the
SRF, including consolidating and preparing data for highlight reports and drafting
communication materials to raise awareness on results-based management processes through
Yammer, SRD external Share Point, IOM Website (related to the Division’s areas of work) etc.
4. Assist with SRD’s planning processes in alignment with the SRF, including the workplan
process, by providing support to collect and consolidate information from Headquarters (HQ)
departments/division and regional offices.
5. Assist with SRD’s monitoring and reporting processes in alignment with the SRF, including
support with data collection mechanisms such as the Institutional Questionnaire (IQ) by
providing support to collect and consolidate information from HQ departments/division and
regional/country offices.
6. Assist with SRD’s knowledge and information management processes, including managing
the Division’s internal Share Point, providing administrative support with team coordination,
templates, and forms, and promoting good practices for information management.
7. Support with desk research of good practices in IOM and other agencies related to strategic
planning, monitoring, and reporting.
8. Perform such other duties as may be assigned, including duty travel as needed.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
Education
- Master’s degree in International Relations, Business Administration or Economics, Social
institution with two years of relevant professional experience; or,
- University degree in the above fields with four years of relevant professional experience.
- Experience in IOM strategic planning, monitoring and reporting processes;
- Experience in support and coordination processes, such as consultations, briefings and
- Skills and experience in the usage of office software packages (MS Word, Excel, Power Point
- Expertise in drafting and writing reports, talking points, presentations;
- Knowledge of graphic design and data visualization platforms; and,
- Knowledge of communication and social media uptake.
IOM’s official languages are English, French, and Spanish. All staff members are required to be
fluent in one of the three languages.
For this position, fluency in English is required (oral and written). Working knowledge of another
official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish) is an advantage.
Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process,
which may include written and/or oral assessments.

Competencies will be assessed during a competency-based interview.
Internationally recruited professional staff are required to be mobile.

Recommended candidates endorsed by the Appointments and Postings Board will remain
eligible to be appointed in a similar position for a period of 24 months.

Appointment will be subject to certification that the candidate is medically fit for appointment,
accreditation, any residency or visa requirements, and background verification and security
clearances. Subject to certain exemptions, vaccination against COVID-19 will in principle be
required for individuals hired on or after 15 November 2021. This will be verified as part of the
medical clearance process.
