Reporting to the Head of Reserving/Appointed Actuary (“AA”), the successful candidate will become part of a motivated and open-minded small team that takes pride in a flexible work mode which is based on trust and support.


Your responsibilities

• Life Reserving function for local GAAP within the Reserving department
• Collect, analyse and review the valuation of life technical liabilities from the various Munich RE life units doing business with New Re
• Ensute the adequacy of life reserves under local GAAP (Swiss Statutory Reserves) and assist the Appointed Actuary in any necessary adjustments
• Participate in the IFRS17 analysis for group-consolidation purpose with respect to life liabilities and build a bridge from IFRS17 to Local GAAP reserves
• Prepare and lead the quarterly life reserving discussion
• Ensure life reserving takes place within a well-controlled risk environment and support the annual life reserving audits if needed
• Participate, with marketing, accounting and risk management to the new business acquisition process
• Cooperate and exchange with New Re and Munich RE group functions as appropriate
• Support the reserving team in global projects as they arise, and assist the Appointed Actuary in his regulatory tasks related to life

Plus any additional duties and responsibilities that may reasonably be expected to be undertaken in accordance with the role.


Your profile

• University degree with quantitative focus (e.g. mathematics, actuarial science, accounting or economics)
• At least 5-6 years’ experience in life insurance or reinsurance (an experience in Life reserving/reporting is desirable)
• Excellent knowledge of the Accounting standard and valuation basis (Swiss CO, IFRS17, Solvency II)
• Excellent knowledge of Insurance Technical Accounting (P&L, Balance Sheet)
• Interpersonal and presentation skills (ability to deal with senior actuarial staff and ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences)
• Creative and open to new approaches
• Ability to work independently, and take responsibility
• Proficient user of MS Office, especially Excel (Queries & Connections, VBA skills)
• Fellow of an Actuarial Association
• Valuing and promoting an inclusive working and learning environment
• Excellent command of English
