The Sustainability in Business Lab (sus.lab) is the transdisciplinary think-and-do-tank of the Group for Sustainability and Technology (Sus Tec) at ETH Zurich. Sus.lab drives the sustainability transition in collaboration with industry, policymakers, and academia, enabling a net-zero and circular economy. To develop, lead, and manage sus.lab projects, we are looking for an impact-driven senior project manager to start as soon as possible, ideally by January 2025.

Project background

One of your main projects will be a four-year SNSF-funded project analyzing the interdependencies, acceptance, and effectiveness of intervention measures to reduce food waste in Swiss households. Our work officially begins in January 2025 and primarily involves qualitative methods, such as expert interviews, focus groups, and workshops, engaging with industry and policy representatives, as well as household members - specifically addressing children, adolescents, and adults. You will closely collaborate with our project partner Agroscope, who will mainly focus on quantitative research, such as quantifying household food waste via surveys.

Job description

In your role at sus.lab, you will:

Lead and manage different projects (such as analyzing food waste in households)
Oversee project deliverables, budgets, and team coordination
Collaborate with and manage project partners from industry, policy, and academia
Develop and acquire new projects focused on decarbonization and circular economy

Profile

To apply, you must:

Have 3 to 5 years of relevant work experience (e.g. consulting, strategy, entrepreneurship, policy)
Hold a completed master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g. engineering, sustainability)
C2 level)
Be based in Switzerland when starting the position (our office is in Zurich and remote work is not possible due to legal constraints)

Have strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills
Are accustomed to learning about new technologies and delving into technical details
Know how to manage and engage a variety of stakeholders
Are experienced in writing (academic) reports and papers
Have expertise in food waste
Are able to start the position as soon as possible (ideally by January 2025)
