What you will do
The Value Stream Director serves as the primary Self Care SC contact and liaison for business partners including but not limited to Supply Chain Pillars, Commercial Leaders, R&D Leaders and Finance, for the business unit supported. This role provides strong partnering and leadership in overall Strategy and driving execution of Product Innovation, Life Cycle Management (LCM) programs, end-to-end cost programs and portfolio & program management enabling Franchise profitable growth goals in line with regional operating plans. This role orchestrates the resource plan and budget to support the Self Care Franchise Business Growth and GP expectations. The PVS & PMO Director partners with Global IMO & VSM Leader & regional counterparts in designing lead market project structure for leverage across other regions & markets. This individual has responsibility for measuring and reporting the Project Innovation/LCM Dashboards and process results for their business unit and identifying and implementing robust, sustainable improvements. This individual may also serve as the Program leader for complex and/or global projects, as well as point of escalation for team.
Key Responsibilities
- Full end-to-end accountability for the flawless transfer of new products and processes from R&D or other transferring partners into the Supply Chain, the launch of products into markets, including post-launch supply continuity, and the execution of Product LCM programs enabling targets outlined in 3 Year Operating plans.
- Serves as lead supply chain representative for Product Innovations and LCM for the R&D teams. Builds strong cross-functional synergies and partnerships within supply chain, R&D, Regulatory, Finance and commercial teams.
- Leads deployment of integrated management/governance of Portfolio Prioritization of Innovation and Life Cycle Management projects for EMEA C&C and DH Need State within Self Care business. Responsible for LCM Project Portfolio data integrity in the portfolio management system in collaboration franchise/region function leads; ensure data standards are achieved. Portfolio decision leadership that best supports & balances multiple brands, regional business & cross-functional needs. Communicate Portfolio Performance and Project Execution Metrics across key stakeholders
- Facilitates the deployment/management of operating plans and connectivity of E2E activities to markets, Supply Chain and Global Integration Management Office in coordination with Finance. Provides strategic direction and oversight to critical region level initiatives/priorities, including but not limited to core strategies as part of GP improvement, Supply Chain Risk Management or Business Continuity Planning. Responsible for regional product siting and network strategy input to global network.
- Drives disciplined project management practices and execution with direct/indirect staff to include prioritization, resource modeling, financials and reporting.
- Manages and delivers an integrated NPD/LCM portfolio that achieves the business strategy objectives and delivers inter-regional and intra-regional franchise growth targets identified in the operating plan.
- Shape how cross market, inter/intra-regional teams work together with the business to deliver against the operating model success criteria.
- Responsible for end-to-end cost and inventory optimization for project portfolio in the assigned business unit.
- Provides structure, direction, decision making and issue resolution to the project team in situations of potentially high risk, uncertainty and ambiguity on delivery of project objectives.
- Leads problem-solving efforts to develop non-traditional, innovative approaches and conclusions in resolving project issues. Makes prioritization decisions by critically evaluating data from various sources against the business & supply chain objectives. Oversees scenario planning efforts and establishes guiding parameters to address problems and obstacles in attaining goals. Ensures team reaches decisions or escalates as required.
- Leads Franchise Portfolio Governance in alignment with global standards & partners with global teams to enable lead market strategies.
- Serve as a functionally agnostic liaison to the business and the cross-functional leadership team to co-create an aligned inter/intra-regional project portfolio strategy that can be executed at all levels of the organization.
- Leads the portfolio and Value stream resource allocation assessment process at a regional level. Drives portfolio decisions that best supports & balances multiple brands, regional business & cross-functional needs.
- Responsible for Portfolio data integrity in the portfolio management system in collaboration with other project leads and franchise/region function leads; ensure data standards are achieved.
- Develop and deliver strong project and portfolio management & Value stream leadership and capabilities to ensure resources and communication drive the most critical and complex initiatives.
- Owns development and deployment of the following core capabilities for the region to support activity from Ideation to Execution: Idea Assessment & Business Case Development and Validation; Portfolio & Project Governance/Portfolio Entry; Portfolio Tradeoffs; Strategy Linkage & Resource Optimization; BU SC capacity and resource management, and Portfolio / Program / Project Analytics.
- Communicate Portfolio Performance, GP improvement and Project Execution Metrics across key stakeholders.
What we are looking for
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required. MBA, MS or other advanced degree is preferred. A degree in engineering, supply chain, or relevant field is a plus.
- A minimum of 10-12 years of diverse experience across different areas of the Supply Chain is required, including direct experience with Project and Portfolio Mgmt. Previous experience in strategic roles required.
- Experience in a Consumer, packaged goods or FDA-regulated industry is preferred.
- A minimum of 8 years of demonstrated direct people manager experience required.
- Proven ability to manage interrelated projects and identify appropriate methods to collect and analyze a diverse set of data and understand supply chain issues to develop appropriate solutions based on the findings.
- Demonstrated experience managing ambiguity and white space required. Strong technical knowledge with demonstrated ability to think strategically and deliver results is necessary.
- Proven knowledge with portfolio management at a franchise / business unit level highly preferred with a strong ability to determine and drive the most appropriate course of action to reach a decision in a timely manner, engaging appropriate experts and leaders.
- Strong business and financial acumen with demonstrated analytical skills including understanding of financial principles and how to leverage this knowledge to make sound business decisions and/or recommendations to achieve business goals in a complex environment with multiple layers of stakeholders.
- Demonstrated understanding/ability to consolidate, optimize and prioritize a portfolio of programs under constraints in a dynamic manner, specifically allocating and re-allocating resources (budgets, FTEs) across projects is required.
- Thorough knowledge of the consumer healthcare industry or relevant experience in pharmaceutical industry and strong E2E supply chain knowledge with demonstrated ability to think strategically and deliver results.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to act as a change agent and adapt to changing business and organizational dynamics is required. Proven track record of working E2E, commercial & global partnership, and leading broad teams is required.
- An entrepreneurial self-starter with strong communication (verbal & written) and facilitation skills is required.
- Leadership experience with collaborating, networking and influencing in a matrix organization is required with demonstrated ability to interact with all levels of management and lead discussions without line authority to create alignment of senior cross-functional stakeholders.
- Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to translate insights into actionable plans
- Experience with specialized software or technology relevant to the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry
- Advanced degree in a relevant field
- Experience working in a global or multi-cultural environment
- Experience with continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma
