Job Summary
To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add a Staff Testing Engineer located in Taiwan Taipei Wugu Site. The Staff Testing Engineer performs the responsibility for product design testing in Tier 1 customer's PSU/BBU/ESS/PCU Projects request.
What a typical day looks like:
- Prefer has deep understanding of Switched-Mode Power Supplies (SMPS) and own knowledge of Battery Management Systems (BMS) / Battery Backup Units (BBU).
Key Responsibilities
- Test Planning and Strategy Development:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (design, product management, manufacturing)
- Define testing requirements and objectives
- Develop comprehensive test plans (methodologies, resources, timelines, success criteria)
- Identify and implement best practices for testing processes
- Test Design and Implementation:
- Design and develop test fixtures, automated test scripts, and setups for SMPS and BMS/BBU systems
- Create detailed test cases and procedures based on specifications and standards
- Ensure calibration and maintenance of all test equipment
- Execution of Testing:
- Conduct various tests (functional, performance, thermal, environmental, safety)
- Perform capacity and cycle testing on battery systems
- Measure and analyze output voltage, current, ripple, and noise levels in SMPS
- Data Analysis and Reporting:
- Analyze test results and document findings in detailed reports
- Identify trends, anomalies, and areas for improvement
- Present findings to stakeholders with actionable recommendations
- Troubleshooting and Problem Resolution:
- Identify, diagnose, and resolve issues in SMPS and BMS/BBU systems
- Collaborate with design engineers for troubleshooting
- Conduct root cause analysis for failures and implement corrective actions
- Compliance and Standards Adherence:
- Ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., UL, IEC, ISO)
- Stay updated on changes in standards and incorporate them into practices
- Identify opportunities for process improvements
- Implement new testing technologies and tools
- Documentation and Knowledge Management:
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of test plans, procedures, results, and lessons learned
- Contribute to internal knowledge bases and best practice guides
The experience we’re looking to add to our team:
- Qualifications
- Education:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or related field
- Experience:
- 5-10 years in testing SMPS and BMS/BBU systems
- Proven experience in leading testing projects and teams
- Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of SMPS design principles and testing methodologies
- In-depth knowledge of BMS/BBU functionality and safety standards
- Proficiency in test equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, electronic loads, environmental chambers)
- Familiarity with automated testing tools and software code customization (C/C++, Python, VBScripts)
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with regulatory compliance testing (e.g., UL, CE, FCC)
- Knowledge of EMI/EMC testing procedures and standards
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and project management tools (e.g., JIRA, Bitbucket).
