179370 Perinatal Quality and Safety Manager

The post holder will be a highly visible, proactive and accessible midwifery leader, acting as a role model and clinical resource within the maternity and neonatal services. They will be responsible for the implementation of effective clinical governance arrangements including clinical incidents and risk management; patient and carer involvement: management of SAER and complaints and developing a learning culture where we learn from incidents and omissions and engage in continuous quality improvement at the front line. The role will also be key in ensuring the workforce are supported through education and clinical skills training.
The post holder will support the implementation of the Best Start Maternity Plan and act as a senior point for escalating concerns within the allocated service or specialty. The post holder will be in a key position to influence the development of both maternity and neonatal services and be part of a strong and motivated senior team.
Maternity and neonatal services sit within the Women, Children’s and sexual health Directorate ensuring good collaboration with the multi disciplinary health team, this post holder will also be part of the Directorate Senior Leadership team.
There is a requirement for some regular clinical work, occasional out of hours and to participate in Out of hours/On-call arrangements in line with the Women, Children and Sexual Health Directorate local arrangements.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week for NHS Agenda for Change workers in Scotland from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period, for which you would be paid, until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
