Cricket Green Medical Practice
Administrator (Medical Practice)
Mitcham
FULL TIME
September 23, 2024
About us and this opportunity
Cricket Green Medical Practice is a forward-thinking, well established GP surgery in South West London. We provide care for a patient population of close to 12,000, working alongside a multi-skilled team of 40 clinical and administrative staff, supported by four GP partners.
We have a permanent opportunity for an Administrator to join our busy medical surgery in Mitcham and work alongside a great team of GPs, administrators and receptionists. In this role, you will be working with our highly supportive and skilled admin team, which will include manning the reception desk in a very busy surgery. The administrative tasks you can expect are shown below. Experience working in a similar environment, such as a GP, NHS, dental or veterinary practice, or in a similarly fast-paced customer-facing environment, will be an advantage.
We are open to applications from candidates of all backgrounds, who can offer excellent patient service skills. This role is offered on a permanent and full-time basis but we are happy to hear of your individual requirements.
About the role
You can expect a very busy and varied day, with a structured rotation of administrative duties and patient-facing reception duties. Key aspects of the role include as below, but are not restricted to:
+ processing incoming correspondence
+ adding medical codes to the clinical record
+ summarising medical notes
+ responding to enquiries from patients and other healthcare services
+ processing prescription requests
+ processing medical reports
You will have excellent administrative skills, acquired in a customer service environment. You will show patience and resilience when dealing with patients, some of whom may be feeling upset or distressed because of their personal circumstances. A professional and calm manner will help.
To thrive in this admin role, you will need excellent organisation skills and the ability to prioritise. Everyone is expected to muck in to deliver an excellent service to our patients. This is a very busy environment and we will provide the necessary training. The willingness and confidence to ask questions so that all patient queries are answered accurately is an important mindset to have in a medical practice. We don’t mind questions because we don’t mind you learning and developing in the role.
This role requires you to work with Word, Excel at, at least, an intermediate level. We will train you on our internal systems if you are not familiar with them already.

If the number of applications is high, we reserve the right to start interviewing before the application deadline. We always endeavour to come back to each applicant but please allow up to 4 weeks for the selection process to take its course.
