About the Role:
Look to maintain and build relationships with brokers, clients and business partners in order to renew and acquire new business for the portfolio. A great opportunity to develop technical underwriting skills.
About the Department & Team:
Our experienced Casualty insurance team offers a broad range of liability products to commercial clients in the UK, Europe and MENA region.
From our UK, Middle East and North Africa and Continental Europe branch networks, we provide liability protection that is suitable for businesses in the manufacturing, construction, transportation, chemicals, oil and gas, healthcare, food and beverage, utilities, wholesale and retail sectors.
The primary portfolio focuses on the large corporate sector/medium multinational clients and internationally domiciled business via dedicated teams in our London, European and Dubai offices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Follow the divisional business plan in order to make appropriate decisions
- Contribute and participate in all underwriting meetings in order to share and develop strategy, knowledge and best practice
- Develop knowledge of market dynamics and market cycles to support the performance of the underwriting team
- Maintain relationships with customers, brokers, business partners, reinsurers and colleagues to maximise influence and achieve business objectives
- Support the review and analysis of the portfolio, to identify progress towards business objectives
- Work with the operations team to process entries, as required, properly onto relevant systems in a timely manner. Ensuring accuracy of data with relation to both underwriting and aggregate exposures
- Contribute new ideas and concepts to support the development and delivery of the business plan
- Adherence to all relevant regulatory requirements forms part of your role, and the demonstration of behaviours as set out in the Conduct Risk Policy, as they relate to your role, is core to LSM's commitment to our Liberty Values, placing customers at the centre of our business and behaving with integrity. These requirements include the Senior Managers and Certification Regime Conduct Rules ,Solvency II, fair treatment of customers, Financial Crime, Data Protection, Conflicts of Interest, and Whistleblowing.
Skills and Experience
- Experience in underwriting or broking
- Good knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements
- Working towards Chartered Insurance Institute qualification(s) preferred
- A level understanding of relevant software including Excel and other software packages
- A high level of numeracy and literacy skills
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Self-starter with strong organizational skills
- Attention to detail
- Develop existing and new distribution channels
