As a Laboratory Andrologist at the Reproductive Medicine Unit Lab at UCLH, you will play a vital role in diagnosing and treating male reproductive health issues. Your responsibilities will span clinical, educational, and administrative duties, ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our andrology laboratory.
Clinical Responsibilities: You will assess semen samples for fertility issues, prepare samples for treatments and long-term storage, and process sperm samples during surgical retrievals. Strict adherence to protocols and safe maintenance of laboratory equipment, including overseeing the liquid nitrogen storage facility, will be essential. You will also participate in the lab's out-of-hours rota for equipment monitoring.
Communication and Collaboration : You will liaise with a multidisciplinary team to provide fertility assessments and communicate complex information to patients clearly and compassionately.
Educational Responsibilities: You will contribute to the training of junior staff and students, while also participating in ongoing professional development to stay current in andrology advancements.
Service Improvement and Quality Assurance : You will monitor quality standards, assist with service-level reports, and help investigate patient complaints, ensuring continuous service improvements.
Management Responsibilities : Supervising junior staff, maintaining records, and ensuring compliance with relevant guidelines are key administrative duties.
