The Extra Care Charitable Trust currently have an amazing permanent opportunity for a commercially driven Retail Operations and Project Manager to develop their experience and knowledge in the Charity sector, overseeing our charity shops in the Northwest.
As our Retail Operations and Project Manager you will explore, develop and implement new and exciting initiatives to support and shape the future retail operation. You will work collaboratively with the Retail and wider Extra Care Charitable Trust teams to identify opportunities and oversee any new business opportunities in line with the retail strategy and in line with agreed budgets, measurables and timeframes. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Retail Operations and Project Manager to support Retail’s commitment in contributing to Extra Care’s mission of “better lives for older people”.

Role Details
  • Role: Retail Operations and Project Manager
  • Hours: 37.5 hours per week – with Hybrid Working
  • Contract: Permanent
  • Salary: £52,276 + car allowance
  • Location: Head Office, Binley, Coventry, CV3 2 SN

Main responsibilities:
  • Full line management responsibility for the Retail Operations team leading the retail administrative and gift aid functions
  • Own the retail operating model and challenge existing ways of working, processes, policies and procedures to ensure the most effective and efficient are agreed for retail.
  • Engage, challenge and influence stakeholders across the business to ensure that new or updated operational projects, processes, activity and initiatives are planned and delivered at the right time with the appropriate communication and guidance to ensure excellent in store execution
  • To support the Retail Director to develop and deliver the retail communication strategy, to ensure that communication methods are clear and simple and effectively engage retail.
  • Represent Retail Operations in weekly meetings to agree any activity and identify potential risks/opportunities to store operations and agreed activity
  • Take responsibility of the bought in goods and online sales strategies, driving income and opportunity
  • Conduct regular and timely evaluations on our processes to ensure continuous improvement and learning
  • Measure and objectively feedback on progress before, during and following execution of projects against the retail strategy
  • Support in the delivery of the Retail Strategy, through effective management of future requirements, ways of working and innovative solutions, ensuring it aligns and enables the business plans.

Our ideal Retail Operations and Project Manager:
  • Candidate must have a UK driving licence and access to a car, travel expenses will be paid.
  • Previous retail experience -preferably within the charity sector.
  • Ability to work with a broad mix of people - the ability to work with a diverse group of people, including volunteers, staff, and customers.
  • Proven management of external supplier relationships for retail operations and projects.
  • To be alert for hazards for self, other staff, residents and visitors and to report such findings immediately.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills - the ability to communicate effectively with others, build relationships, and resolve conflicts.
  • Committed team player - the ability to work collaboratively with others to achieve common goals.
  • Good organisational skills - the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
  • High level numeracy skills - the ability to understand and analyse financial data.
  • Strong communication skills - the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Performance management - effective 1:1’s, objective setting, assessing employee performance, developing through coaching & feedback.
  • Recruitment - Experience with interviewing, hiring, evaluating candidates.
