Slitter/Rewinder Operative

We are looking for a motivated Slitter/Rewinder Operative to join our team. This role involves operating and maintaining slitting and rewinding machinery to produce high-quality packaging materials efficiently. Attention to detail is essential, as you’ll closely monitor the production process, making adjustments to meet quality standards and production goals.
In this role, you will manage the final steps of production—taking master printed rolls, performing quality checks, and finishing tasks to ensure they’re ready for dispatch to clients. While no prior experience as a Rewinder Operative is required, experience in the print sector (labels, packaging, digital, large format, or litho print) is essential, as full training will be provided.

Shift Pattern:
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: £27,000.00 per year

Shift Pattern:
- 6 am – 2 pm Monday – Friday
- 2 pm – 10 pm Monday – Friday
- No weekends or bank holidays.
- Set up, inspect, and operate rewinder/slitter machinery.
- Load and unload printed rolls, and manage material movement within the factory.
- Follow job instructions accurately.
- Adjust clock/counter settings for final Reelage.
- Set machine tensions for different materials.
- Perform visual checks using a strobe light to remove waste and subpar print quality.
- Inspect, slit, and rewind reels to finishing specifications, including identifying the correct core size.
- Monitor product quality, removing non-conforming items and handling waste appropriately.
- Package finished reels for safe transport.
- Complete necessary paperwork and job cards according to ISO standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
- Meet strict deadlines while upholding quality standards.
- Regularly check machine guards and maintain blades.
- Cut cores using the Core Cutter.
- Notify management of any stock issues.
- Communicate effectively with team members and support them in resolving any issues.
- Respond professionally to all customer inquiries, both internal and external.
- Experience with rewinding machinery (not essential).
- Print industry experience (essential).
- Strong understanding of the print/labels/packaging industry.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with computers.
- Willingness to work independently for extended periods.
- Competitive salary around £27,000.
- Regular opportunities for overtime are available for those interested in earning extra.
