Role Overview:
The Planner/Buyer will oversee the complete tactical material planning process, from sourcing products and components to managing work orders with precision. You’ll take ownership of key performance indicators, including supplier On-Time and In-Full (OTIF) delivery, MRP work order control, and proactively addressing current and future stockouts. You'll play a crucial role in streamlining supply chain processes and ensuring seamless collaboration across Stores, Production, and Sales teams to execute the production plan smoothly.
Work Environment: This is an on-site position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive continuous improvement in the planning processes.
- Maintain and develop strong relationships with existing suppliers to ensure consistent product availability.
- Collaborate with the sales and strategic buying teams to understand customer preferences and adjust purchasing strategies accordingly.
- Conduct regular assessments of stock levels and manage inventory to meet customer demand without overstocking.
- Monitor all products meet quality standards requirements.
- Act on MRP recommendation, placing orders with approved supply base.
- Monitor the quality, performance, and cost to ensure that contracts continue to deliver maximum overall value.
- Expedite material to the “Point of use” and respond quickly to operational issues.
- Plan, monitor and progress work orders and kits to ensure OTIF targets are met.
- Work with all supply chain and production teams to develop and execute production plans, both tactical and strategic.
- Liaise with required teams on fast-track orders, priories or potential risks to OTIF.
- Monitor and raise replacement sub-assembly works orders, as required, for internal rework or customer returns.
- Update and maintain the weekly “Run The Business” document, ensure all relevant information on stock availability is up to date and that other teams provide the required information.
- Conduct ad-hoc analysis and modelling as required, providing insight to ensure data driven actions are taken.
- Monthly reporting and forecasting of demand forecast.
- Assist in the automatization and streamlining of the production planning process.
- Review and maintain MRP plan in line with the forecast plan.
- Support other supply chain teams when required.
Critical Competencies for Success:
- Strong data analysis skills with the ability to produce, interpret, and derive actionable insights from data.
- Proven experience in supply chain and planning analysis within FMCG or manufacturing sectors.
- Deep understanding of supply chain processes and solid knowledge of logistics operations.
- Experience with MRP systems and their application in optimizing supply chain efficiency.
- Advanced IT skills, particularly in MS Office and Excel, for data visualization and dashboard creation.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities with a strategic approach to overcoming challenges.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills, able to influence and collaborate effectively.
- Experience and passion for driving innovation, developing new ideas, and building processes from the ground up.
- Flexible and team-oriented, with a commitment to supporting collective goals.
