Position Information

• Researches legal documents and official public records for both Land Court and Regular System real properties in various government offices and electronic databases.
• Extracts information related to ownership, chain of title, encumbrances, mortgages, restrictions, covenants, and reservation of rights related to privately owned properties that the department is interested in acquiring for new water facilities or easements for water infrastructure.
• Prepares reports summarizing and listing land title information obtained.
• Appears in court as an expert witness in matters pertaining to land title searches, reports and summaries prepared for the department.
• Performing other duties and responsibilities of the position.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

At time of application, you must be a citizen, national, or permanent resident alien of the United States or a non-citizen eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Equivalent to graduation from high school. Responsible work experience that demonstrated the ability to perform the essential functions of the job may be substituted for education.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
Five years of office experience, three of which shall have been in searching or recording land titles.

Such experience must demonstrate knowledge of legal documents relating to land titles and transactions; sources of information and material relating to land title search; and the ability to analyze legal material; summarize information concisely and accurately; write reports.
