Department of Revenue is recruiting for a Taxpayer Service Front Desk (Administrative Specialist 1) position. We are looking for talented, detail-oriented individuals to join our Personal Tax & Compliance Unit in the Salem Field Office Unit. This position is on-site (remote work is not offered).
In order to be considered for Department of Revenue recruitments, you must reside within the state of Oregon. Current Revenue employees who live outside of Oregon may apply and will be considered.
What You Will Be Doing
Below is a sampling of job duties. It is not meant to encompass all duties.
  • Provides in-person assistance to the public and other employees at the Department of Revenue’s Payment Center desk for a variety of tax programs.
  • Answers questions and advises public on rules, laws, policies, and procedures.
  • Explains billings, sends financial statements, processes payments, comments system as to action take on accounts.
  • Perform and coordinate administrative tasks in support to division and agency operations. Handles large volumes of taxpayer paperwork, review for accuracy, then routes to the correct department for further processing.
  • Processes taxpayer payments, including large volume cash payments using cash counting machines.

This Is What You Need To Qualify

Two years of secretarial or basic administrative support experience that includes records processing, generating documents, and gathering and sorting data; OR
An associate degree in general office occupations and one year of experience with records processing, generating documents, and gathering and sorting data; OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience.
The ideal candidate will possess the following desired skills and attributes:
  • Excellent customer service skills for both internal and external customers.
  • Experience processing, entering, and/or verifying detailed data.
  • Experience handling multiple tasks/assignments/duties.
  • Experience with situations where you had to remain productive and take initiative on tasks when minimal direction from others is available.
  • Highly dependable and accountable.
  • Works well in a team environment.
  • Experience in handling large volumes of cash.

  • The salary listed is the non-PERS qualifying salary range. If the successful candidate is PERS qualifying, the salary range will reflect the additional 6.95%.
