AmeriCorps Recruitment Member Position Description

Position Overview: In an effort to strengthen the recruitment and retention of Ameri Corps members, the Ameri Corps Recruitment Member will be dedicated to expanding and building the program’s capacity and their partnering organizations to effectively recruit and retain members. The Ameri Corps Recruitment Member will work with the team to expand community outreach, build social media presence through active posting and coordination with partner agencies, and promote the transformational impact of the program on populations with whom they work. Partner agencies will become more efficient and effective through increased community awareness, resulting in an increase in volunteer and national service participant interest, retention and new partnerships with institutions of higher learning and local business/foundations. Identifying and implementing effective recruitment strategies to increase the capacity of Florida Ameri Corps programs is a significant component of the Ameri Corps Recruitment Member role, as are the creation and execution of retention strategies, planning for and hosting recruitment events, and developing ways to build and appreciate partnerships.
Areas of Responsibility and Essential Functions:
The Ameri Corps Recruitment Member will provide capacity building support, as defined by the achievement of the following outcomes: • An increase in Ameri Corps member applications received
- An increase in number of Ameri Corps member slots filled
- An increase in recruitment strategy implementation
Member Activities: All member activities will aim to collectively raise the awareness of national service opportunities statewide as well as strengthen the ability of the host program to adequately serve their beneficiaries by leveraging all slots awarded. Overall, the Ameri Corps Recruitment Member will be charged with creating and refining systems to recruit and retain quality Ameri Corps members. The Ameri Corps Recruitment Member activities may include, but are not limited to the following:

Be well-versed on the purpose of the program and its recruitment timelines.
- Gather and maintain updated information on the application process and timelines for the program.
- In partnership with program staff, develop a program-specific action plan to diagnose and treat the recruitment capacity building needs of the program.
- Support program staff in identifying, developing and fostering partnerships to increase outreach to potential Ameri Corps Members.
- Expand community outreach through presentations at colleges and career fairs.
- Build social media presence through active posting and coordination with partner agencies.
- Develop other marketing materials for recruitment purposes.
- Implement strategies to keep Ameri Corps Alumni engaged in promoting national service.
Qualifications:
- Be at least 17 years of age at the commencement of service; or
- Be an out-of-school youth 16 years of age at the commencement of service participating in a program described in § 2522.110(b)(3) or (g);
- Have a high school diploma or its equivalent; or Not have dropped out of elementary or secondary school to enroll as an Ameri Corps participant and must agree to obtain a high school diploma or its equivalent prior to using the education award; or Obtain a waiver from the Corporation of the requirements in paragraphs (a)(2)(i) and (a)(2)(ii) of this section based on an independent evaluation secured by the program demonstrating that the individual is not capable of obtaining a high school diploma or its equivalent; or Be enrolled in an institution of higher education on an ability to benefit basis and be considered eligible for funds under section 484 of the Higher Education Act of 1965 (20 U.S.C. 1091)
- Be a citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident alien of the United States;
- Satisfy the National Service Criminal History Check eligibility criteria pursuant to 45 CFR 2540.202.
- Have prior Ameri Corps experience through ASN, VISTA, Senior Corps or NCCC.
- Agree to serve in a full-time capacity (dependent on program design).
