Primary Purpose

Model for drawing, painting, sculpture, and other art-related classes. Assist in teaching of human proportions, body alignments, anatomy and structure, movement, foreshortening, and body-clothing relationships to students in the classes. Work is performed under supervision of the class instructor during class hours. The position may entail draped and undraped modeling, the ability to hold poses for up to twenty (20) minutes at a time and the ability to be on one's feet (with 5-minute breaks every twenty (20) minutes) for up to four (4) hours.

This is a temporary position for no more than
520 hours per fiscal year. Schedule will vary depending on class schedule.

Description of Essential Functions

Modeling (100% of Time)
  • Posing: May be asked to do a variety of poses for either a short period of time or possibly an extended period of time.
  • May be required to pose undraped occasionally for specific courses.
  • A requirement of the job is modelling undraped so that the class can learn surface anatomy and the forms and proportions of the human body.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

REQUIRED AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • No experience necessary, although previous experience in modelling is helpful.
  • A familiarity with Art courses is preferred, but not required.
  • A preferred candidate shall exhibit a sense of self-possession, confidence, and sanguinity in their personality and some level of comfort with the idea of undraped modeling.
  • A preferred candidate should have previous experience as a model or related experience including dance, action, or other kinesthetic self-expression.
  • A preferred candidate should have good employee skills and values including arriving early and ready to work, dependability, ability to use my Laker Link to record hours worked, and demonstrated skills in conscientiousness and ability to communicate and coordinate with the instructor.

  • Ability to use computer systems to enter hours worked.
