The Office of Cannabis Management (OCM) is currently hiring multiple Cannabis Inspectors to ensure public health and safety are maintained and to enforce state laws, rules, and regulations related to cannabis business.
This is a hybrid telework position for residents of Minnesota with the telework schedule based on the business needs of the unit and supervisory discretion. Many days are spent in the field performing inspections.
A successful incumbent in this position will be able to:
- Complete inspection duties in accordance with established policies and procedures in order to meet program goals and requirements.
- Provide education, direction, training, and technical assistance to cannabis industry stakeholders.
- Schedule inspection and site visits and document inspection findings
- Evaluate complaints to determine appropriate next steps and investigate complaints in a timely manner.
- Identify non-compliant practices and products and take the appropriate risk-based enforcement actions consistent with applicable laws and procedures.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
To facilitate proper years of service crediting, please ensure that your resume clearly describes your experience in the areas listed and indicates the beginning and ending month and year for each job held.- One (1) year of experience performing inspections or investigations AND enforcement activities for a county, state, or federal regulatory program. Enforcement activities typically require legal jurisdiction or authority such as assessing fees or fines, removing products from shelves, writing citations, making arrests, or shutting down service providers or businesses.
- The ability to celebrate diversity and a strong commitment to a respectful and inclusive work environment
- Excellent communication skills sufficient to effectively deliver complex information to a variety of audiences
- A valid driver’s license and ability to travel to various locations throughout the state
- Ability to lead, train, and evaluate the work activities of employees
- Skill in training and guiding the work assignments of employees
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of MN cannabis laws and regulations
- Experience in the cannabis, hemp, or other county, state, or federally regulated industry
- Experience providing education to adult learners and using plain language
- Experience working with law enforcement

About Cannabis Management Office
Be a part of building the new Office of Cannabis Management (OCM) from the ground up and supporting Minnesota’s new cannabis industry. The OCM will serve as the primary regulatory agency for the state’s new and expanding cannabis industry, (including the new adult-use market, the Medical Cannabis Program, and existing lower-potency hemp edibles), issue business licenses, provide education and technical support to the new businesses, administer grants to support community reinvestment, and oversee all aspects of Minnesota’s cannabis industry.Working together to improve the state we love.
