Duties and responsibilities include:
The Communications Specialist is responsible for developing, managing, and executing a comprehensive cybersecurity communications plan. This role involves creating strategic communication materials and coordinating with stakeholders to enhance awareness and compliance among staff and contractors. The Communications Specialist will play a vital role in ensuring effective communication strategies are implemented to support cybersecurity initiatives.

Communications Planning and Execution:
- Support the Project Management Office (PMO) in offering communications as a service for projects, initiatives, and change management requirements.
- Identify stakeholders and key communication topics to plan effective communication strategies.
- Develop and maintain a strategic communication plan outlining stakeholder engagement, communication channels, messaging, and frequency.

Material Development and Dissemination:
- Draft and disseminate communication materials and briefings using templates, ensuring clarity, conciseness, and audience appropriateness.
- Coordinate message delivery with OCIO communications staff for critical cyber threats.
- Maintain communication materials in a records repository for historical reference and archiving.

Information Gathering and Documentation:
- Gather information from subject matter experts through interviews, documentation review, and meetings.
- Ensure all documentation is peer-reviewed and content edits are made prior to dissemination.
- Experience in communications, preferably within a government or healthcare environment.
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft 365 and standard tools used for development and dissemination of communication materials and media.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with Section 508 compliance and SCORM standards.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and manage multiple priorities.
- Cybersecurity Certifications (CISSP, CISM, etc.).
- Certifications in relevant communications methodologies.
Clearance Requirement: Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust.
The salary range for this position depends upon multiple factors including location, the individual's knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, and contract-specific budget constraints and organizational requirements.
