The Carlsbad Beach Hotel Properties, Beach Terrace Boutique Hotel www.beachterraceinn.com is hiring guest service specialists for our stunning beachfront hotel!
This position requires full availability to work any 3 – 5 days per week including weekends and holidays and being able to work a 6 to 8 hours shift with a start time at 6:00 am.
Our strongest asset as a hotel is our location, the ‘private’ beach that is our backyard. Our Associates will ensure every guest feels a personal connection to our little corner of the world.
The Continental Breakfast Prep Cook prepares creative and upscale alternative morning breakfast and brunch items; then supports pool and beach service with gourmet sandwiches and salads. Provides suggestions for ongoing menu improvement and change. Is responsible for a high level of creativity and food display in an environment without a cooking surface. Ensures food is of highest quality and consistency. Maintains cleanliness and sanitation of all work surface areas, refrigerators, tables, counters, and floor. Prepare and store foods in a sanitary environment in accordance with local health guidelines. Maintain proper par levels of all products.
Essential Job Functions:

• Clean and stock prep area to ensure an efficient service.
• Receive deliveries and store products.
• Prepare ingredients for breakfast according to recipe specifications and within normal production times.
• Wash, chop, cut, grate and slice fruit and vegetables for the various dishes.
• Maintain high standard and consistency of quality and presentation.
• Label, stock and organize all ingredients on shelves.
• Handle, store and rotate all food products to maintain freshness.
• Maintain clean and orderly service areas and complete side work duties.
• Comply with established safety and sanitation standards.
• Ensure all food and other items are stored properly.
• Cleaning dishes, washing cooking utensils and cookware, taking out the trash and sanitizing kitchen.
• Keeping track of ingredient inventory and collaborating with management staff to order resupply.
• Adhere to company policies and standard procedures.
• Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Experience:

• 1-3 years of experience in a professional kitchen
• Good Knife skills
• Professional communication skills required
• Has or is able to obtain a Serv Safe Certificate by the county of San Diego
• Ability to work in a team environment and crossover into breakfast host function when required.
• Ability to work fast and stay focused under pressure
• Must be able to perform repetitive tasks and stand for extended periods of time and able to climb flights of stairs several times a day.

This position also requires full availability holidays!
