Electrical Engineer III

Job Description
Candidate will be working as part of a team of engineers and designers at our Charlotte, NC office working on modification packages. Candidate must complete complex engineering assignments including preparation of packages that include specifications and data sheets, calculations, and modifications to existing plant drawings; provide support to proposals, prepare purchase requisitions; review vendor drawings and develop cost and budget estimates and schedules and scope of work documents.
Minimum Requirements:
  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering from an accredited 4-year university with course work in power systems
  • 5 years overall experience in design of electrical systems for power plants or heavy industrial facilities
  • 2 years of experience in electrical design for nuclear plants in North America including new plants or modification of existing operating plants
  • Preparation of specifications and sizing calculations for electrical distribution equipment
  • Development of schematic and single line diagrams for medium and low voltage switchgear and motor control centers
  • Familiarity with protection and control schemes for medium and low voltage AC auxiliary systems
  • Familiarity with industrial DC and UPS systems
  • Review of engineering drawings including but not limited to single line, schematic and wiring diagrams, and physical location drawings
  • 2 years of experience with preparation of auxiliary system studies including short circuit, load flow, coordination and arc flash studies using ETAP or equivalent software
  • Familiarity with the National Electrical Code and IEEE Standards relating to plant electrical distribution systems
  • Good written and oral communication skills. Must be able to interface with other members of the project team including other disciplines, client, contractors and vendors
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prepare finished technical reports, spreadsheets and presentations using Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point
  • Must be a Citizen of the U.S. or Canada and able to obtain unescorted access to a U.S. nuclear power plant
  • Passed Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam
Preferred Requirements:
  • Professional Engineering (PE) License in any state in the U.S. with ability to obtain licensure in other states by comity
  • 2 years of experience preparing modification packages for operating nuclear generating stations in the U.S. using the Standard Nuclear Design Process (IP-ENG-01)
  • Field experience / Walk-downs of operating power plants.
  • Experience in application and setting of protective relays
  • Supervisory experience leading other electrical engineers and designers, and experience preparing estimates, budgets and schedules.
  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering with power focus

Pay: $95,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
