Nome Juvenile Probation is recruiting to fill an On-Call, Non-Permanent
Juvenile Justice Counselor 1 position.


What You Will Be Doing:
This position will work some day, evening, and night shifts as well as on weekends and holidays. Work will be on-call and sporadic. You will ensure the security of youth awaiting transport to the nearest juvenile detention facility while in the Nome Probation Office during assigned shifts. You will occasionally perform escorts from Nome to other Youth Facilities in the State as well as residential treatment centers in and out of the State of Alaska.

The Working Environment You Can Expect:
This position is at the Nome Probation Office, located at 113 W Front St., Suite 215, Nome Alaska. As a Staff member, you will cover shifts at various times of day, with flexibility for extra hours as needed. At times, work is off-site, such as escorts and air travel may be required at times.

Minimum Qualifications

PJ03A1 – Juvenile Justice Counselor 1:

A high school diploma or GED
AND
Must be 20 years of age or older.

Special Note:
Prior to initial appointment, successful candidates for the Juvenile Justice Counselor are subject to a background investigation, criminal record check, and medical examination to determine the essential duties of the position can be safely performed.

A valid driver’s license is required at the time of appointment.

  • Two (2) performance evaluations from previous employers, if available.

BACKGROUND CHECK
The successful candidate must pass a comprehensive background investigation, which includes a state and FBI fingerprint-based background check.
