Summary
Fills in for and assumes all the duties for the section supervisor in his absence. The lead person will schedule and coordinate relay technicians plus other salaried and hourly labor work forces as required. The lead person will be assigned to special projects in conjunction with other shops and departments and outside vendors. Supervises the maintenance and repair of all types of relay protection equipment, solid-state and electro-mechanical relays, indicating meters, transducers, DFR’s tone, pilot wire equipment and control circuits.
What You'll Do
  • Provides updated information and corrections to training material.
  • Under the direction of the section supervisor, the lead will supervise and assist other relay technicians in the performance of their duties.
  • When assigned by the supervisor, the lead person will interface with other groups and / or outside contractors to provide direction on matters pertaining to relay shop and/or shop personnel.
  • Provides knowledge of relay equipment and power system operations and maintenance to vendors and other SRP personnel to assist in the resolution of operational problems and issues.
  • Must be available to work overtime and accept callouts.
What It Takes To Succeed
  • Must have a complete knowledge of ultra test (writing of test programs) and a thorough knowledge of computers.
  • Skills required include algebra, geometry and limited trig applications. These skills would be used for example in setting the direction and reach of an impedance relay on calculating the watts and cars on a line from the volts, amps, and phase angle.
Experience
A minimum of 3 years as a Senior Relay Technician or the equivalent of eight years of experience in electrical protection.
Education
Completion of an Associate's degree, Apprenticeship, or 60 college credit hours from an accredited institution that prepares the employee for the assignment.


Hybrid Workplace

SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
