The University of Alaska Anchorage Department of Economics is searching for a bright creative scholar with interests in applied microeconomics. Areas of emphasis can include natural resource and development economics, environmental economics, public, urban, disaster risk management. Preference will be given to candidates with strong training in applied microeconomics. Responsibilities include 1) engaging in high quality research that informs public policy and that leads to publications in top journals, 2) working collaboratively on research projects with members of the Department of Economics.
To thrive in this role you will need the ability to conduct high quality research suitable for publication in leading general economics journals or economics field journals.
Duties:
Research: Engage in high quality research that informs public policy and that leads to publications in top journals, and work collaboratively on research projects with members of the UAA Department of Economics.
Minimum Qualifications:
Ph D in Economics or a related field, completed before Aug 2025.
Strong analytical, research, statistical, and quantitative skills.
Ability to write clearly, professionally, and persuasively.
Effective communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to contribute to the department’s diversity initiatives.
Position Details:
This position is located on the University of Alaska Anchorage campus in Anchorage, Alaska. This is a full-time, 9+3 month, term-funded, non-tenure track, faculty position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, faculty time off (FTO), 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. Faculty salaries are based on a variety of factors, including education and experience. This is an onsite position.
