Kirstin Care --Substance Abuse Counselor
Kirstin Care treatment program is a substance abuse program we are looking for certified and licensed addictions counselors in our Camp Springs office. Our clinic serves many individuals that are in need of substance abuse treatment to help overcome their struggles with addiction. This person must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, have excellent communication, organization and time management skills. Must pass a required background check.
*We are looking to add an hourly counselor who is looking for flexible hours.
*Sign on bonus for addictions counselor will vary based on certification, licensure, and experience.
Responsibilities
Responsible for intakes and assessments, problem identification, treatment planning, recording progress notes, and developing discharge plans, review of continuing care plans.

• Responsible for maintaining contact with referral sources and other agencies involved in client care (i.e. child welfare and criminal justice system).
• Responsible for coordinating with the nearby drug courts.
• Performs admission intake functions by interviewing applicants and contacting referring professionals to assess and evaluate applicants’ physical, psychological, social, and vocational status.
• Writes diagnostic formulations and assessments in consultation with the Clinical Supervisor.
• Reviews medical records and psychological reports to determine clients’ clinical status and develops individualized treatment plans to be reviewed on a regular basis with the Clinical Supervisor.
• Provides direct clinical treatment services to clients using individual, group, family, couples, and concerned-others counseling sessions.
• Meets with clients on a regularly scheduled basis.
• Participates as a team member in staff conferences with other healthcare professionals, providing consultative and direct services to clients who might otherwise not respond to treatment.
• Assists clients in utilizing community resources and services with facilitated referrals and follow up action.
• Assists in planning, organizing, and conducting groups for addictions counseling, education, discussion, and orientation for clients.
• Documents, in accordance with Program policies and procedures, all contacts and services provided to clients, including initial assessments, outpatient histories, and weekly and/or monthly progress notes for each client's file.
• Prepares evaluation conference, reevaluation conference, and discharge reports.
• Participates in Program in-service training and education activities, case record and utilization review meetings, and scheduled meetings with their immediate supervisor.
• Participates in staff conferences regarding Program development, organization, policies, and procedures.
• Participates in the staff development, quality assurance, and professional activities as arranged by the Clinical Supervisor and Program management.
• Participates in continuing education toward certification in Drug and Alcohol Abuse.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements:

• Associates Degree or higher in chemical dependency or related field
• 2 - 4 years experience in behavioral healthcare, specifically addictions or related field.
• Must have minimum of a Certified Associate Counselor-Alcohol and Drug Status (CAC-AD) or one of the following certification or license with the State of | Maryland: Licensed Graduate Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LGADC), Certified Supervised Counselor-Alcohol and Drug (CSC-AD), LCADC, LCPC, LCSW-C, LGPC, LMSW also accepted.

Salary: Depending on education and experience, $20-40/hour.
