APS5/6 Intelligence Analyst

The ACIC are seeking to fill Intelligence Analyst positions at the APS5 and APS6 levels.
As an Intelligence Analyst, you will contribute to the planning, development and production of intelligence outcomes and outputs. Focused on the production of value-added intelligence product as a result of the collection, evaluation and analysis of information, Intelligence Analysts work closely with other intelligence professionals to drive operational activity and produce impactful insights to inform a range of partners on various aspects of transnational serious and organised crime impacting Australia.
Key responsibilities:
APS5
- Develop and maintain an awareness of the contemporary criminal environment including new and emerging threats and nationally significant criminal activity to identify opportunities in line with agency and priorities, including targeting opportunities for law enforcement
- Utilise unique ACIC capabilities including human intelligence, coercive examinations and physical and technical surveillance, to collect mission critical intelligence and derive insights which assist partners to disrupt transnational serious and organised crime
- Support our intelligence operations by developing our national picture of crime, and contributing to the production of advice which directly informs government
- Identify key issues and produce high-level and concise intelligence assessments aimed at influencing senior decision makers
- Work across a variety of teams or thematic areas within the Intelligence Group including operations, intelligence assessments, cybercrime, serious financial crimes or data analytics.
- Conduct complex intelligence analysis across a range of data, information and intelligence sources using advanced knowledge of information technologies, data interrogation, research capabilities and threat assessment methodologies
- Plan work area collection and analysis activities using innovative and/or sensitive collection methodologies to ensure quality actionable intelligence is captured from industry partnerships, intelligence operations and investigations
- Maintain a thorough awareness of the contemporary criminal environment including new and emerging threats and nationally significant criminal activity to identify opportunities in line with agency and priorities, including targeting opportunities for law enforcement.
To be successful in these roles, you will demonstrate the following experience, skills and attributes:

- Ability to develop a range of high-quality intelligence products that inform decision-making by internal and external stakeholders
- Demonstrated aptitude to develop knowledge of data interrogation, research capabilities and threat assessment methodologies, and the ability to undertake analysis
- Ability to solve complex problems, make assessments and derive unique insights
- Ability to develop sound analytic tradecraft, including the ability to conduct complex analysis, apply analytic tools and techniques
- Demonstrates a curious and inquisitive approach, with the ability to identify patterns, trends or insights from our intelligence operations and investigations
- Ability to develop and maintain awareness of the serious and organised crime environment to identify priorities, including new and emerging threats and nationally-significant criminal activity
- Ability to develop an understanding of relevant statutory, regulatory and policy frameworks for intelligence within a law enforcement environment
- Ability to develop and maintain productive relationships which promote information sharing and a common understanding
- Ability to cultivate inter-disciplinary and inter-agency liaison to maintain productive networks to influence information sharing, partnerships and common understanding, particularly with key analytical counterparts in the Five Eye Law Enforcement Group (FELEG) community.
- Ability to initiate the development of a range of high quality tactical, operational and strategic intelligence products and target packs to influence intelligence strategies and outputs for the ACIC and its partners
- High level of strategic thinking, through strategic intelligence assessments on the scope and evolution of serious and organised crime threats to Australia from both a technical and methodology perspective
- Ability to cultivate inter-disciplinary and inter-agency liaison to maintain productive networks to influence information sharing, partnerships and common understanding, particularly with key analytical counter parts in the Five Eye Law Enforcement Group (FELEG) community
- Proven experience supervising less experienced analysts and demonstrating a collegiate approach within the team that promotes a culture of flexibility and improvement
- Demonstrated in-depth knowledge and understanding of relevant statutory, regulatory and policy frameworks for intelligence within a law enforcement environment.
- Ability to successfully complete the Intelligence Analyst Training Program on commencement (essential)
- Minimum of 2+ years’ experience in an intelligence role, preferably within the serious and organised crime environment.
- Citizenship – To be eligible for employment with the ACIC, applicants must be an Australian citizen.
- Security Clearance - The Australian community expects ACIC employees to maintain the highest levels of security and integrity. Successful applicants will be required to obtain and maintain a minimum Negative Vetting 1 security clearance.
- Pre-Employment Screening – All candidates must satisfy an Organisational Suitability Assessment (OSA) prior to being offered employment at the ACIC
