Intelligence Analyst

- ASIC is seeking full time Intelligence Analysts to join its Regulatory Insights & Assessments (Criminal Intelligence Unit) Team
- ASIC4 salary starting from $94,198 (depending on experience) plus up to 15.4% superannuation
- EL1 salary starting from $123,444 (depending on experience) plus up to 15.4% superannuation
- Temporary (2 year) position based in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Canberra or Perth
The team
The Criminal Intelligence Unit (CIU) is a specialised team in the Registry and Intelligence Group responsible for ASIC's criminal intelligence to detect and assesses the threat from serious and organised crime that informs ASICs intelligence-led regulatory approach using data-driven insights.
The CIU manages relationships with many of its law enforcement and government partners to facilitate sharing of information and intelligence and participation in national and multi-jurisdictional arrangements in response to serious and organised crime.
The team is at the forefront of multi-agency collaboration to counter serious financial crime by developing and leading ASIC's intelligence contribution to the:

The role
ASIC4:
- Identify and explore initiatives for ASIC to exploit criminal intelligence to detect and understand criminal threats that inform ASIC's strategic and enforcement priorities.
- Conduct initial triaging and assessment of intelligence reports in line with ASIC's regulatory priorities to identify misconduct in ASIC's regulatory jurisdiction or risk to reputation.
- Undertake complex intelligence projects activities using data driven analytical techniques to produce impactful intelligence insights that inform a range of internal and external clients.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders and respond to request for information.
- Work collaboratively with other intelligence analysts and internal and external stakeholder teams.
- Represent ASIC's criminal intelligence contribution to multi-agency taskforces and participating in various collaborative law enforcement, government and private sector forums as required.
- Identifying opportunities to exploit criminal intelligence to detect and understand current and emerging criminal threats that inform ASIC's strategic and enforcement initiatives.
- Providing and applying expertise in the assessment of intelligence received to identify misconduct in ASIC regulatory jurisdiction or risk to reputation.
- Leading complex intelligence projects and activities using analytical and data driven techniques to produce actionable insights that inform senior decision-makers.
- Delivering written and oral intelligence briefings to a range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Representing ASIC's criminal intelligence contribution to multi-agency taskforces and participating in various collaborative law enforcement, government and private sector forums.
- Identifying innovative ways to improve efficiency of the team and uplift intelligence capability.
- Coaching and mentoring junior intelligence analysts.
ASIC4:
- A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent professional intelligence experience in a regulatory, law enforcement or national security environment.
- Demonstrated experience in the collection and analysis of complex data, applying strategic thinking to produce intelligence insights in written and oral form to a range of stakeholders.
- Ability to interpret and apply legislation to complex matters.
- Experience building and maintaining relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including the ability to effectively resolve client and stakeholder-related queries.
- An understanding of serious financial crime would be beneficial.
- Experience working in multi-agency or multi-jurisdictional taskforces would be beneficial.
- A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent professional intelligence experience.
- Hold or ability to obtain a minimum national security clearance Negative Vetting Level 1.
- Comprehensive knowledge and experience in intelligence analysis and assessment in a regulatory, law enforcement or national security environment.
- Demonstrated ability in preparing complex intelligence reports and briefings to a range of senior level audiences and presenting detailed and complex information clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing.
- Strong relationship management skills to build and maintain productive working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience working in multi-agency or multi-jurisdictional taskforces would be beneficial.
- Knowledge of serious financial crime would be beneficial.
