About the role
Mater Private Hospital Townsville are seeking applications for Assistants in Nursing to join our team. The successful candidates will secure a position within our Casual Pool. To be eligible for our casual pool we require flexibility to work across various wards/departments throughout our Pimlico and Hyde Park campuses. We are looking for AIN who can work 2-3 shifts a week including mornings and afternoons.
Salary range: $32.55 - $35.99 per hour plus superannuation plus 25% Casual Loading and access to salary packaging up to $15,900 annually

The Assistant in Nursing assists and supports the clinical teams in providing safe and quality patient-centred care under the direction of the Registered Nurse or Enrolled Nurse.

What you'll be doing
The Assistant in Nursing assists and supports the clinical teams in providing safe and quality patient-centred care under the direction of the Registered Nurse or Enrolled Nurse.
- Gathering information about patient care needs through observation and notification to the senior clinical staff of identified changes in the health and functional status of patients promptly
- Assist in the provision of care and support of patients within the scope of Assistant in Nursing practice, professional expertise
- Undertaking observations and assessments
- Following the direction and delegation of the appropriate senior clinical staff member
- Assisting with the patient’s hygiene, appearance and dietary consumption needs; and maintain a safe, sanitary and secure environment for patients.
To be considered suitable for the AIN Casual talent community you will be:
- A current Bachelor of Nursing student (completed first clinical placement) OR have a Certificate III in Health Services Assistance
- Flexibility to perform in various wards, adaptability to seamlessly integrate in to different teams and work under different NUMs
- Ability to undertake additional training with Mater to do observations
- Experience working as an AIN within an acute hospital setting (desirable)
- Consistent availability to complete shifts at short notice
- Commitment to excellence in nursing practice and professional development
- Demonstrated ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team
- Basic computer skills and proven ability to use health information systems
