Working within a fast-paced environment, you will be the dynamic go-to person supporting our Category Manager. In this role, you will gain a broad understanding of the categories with active involvement in the product selection process, category reviews and weekly supplier training.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Code creation and maintenance
- Manage the email inbox for product related queries and assistance
- Sourcing of non-ranged products through preferred partners as part of tender response process
- Promotional planning and campaign submission planning and coordination with Category Manager and Marketing
- Catalogue and marketing material support
- Supplier reporting coordination as required
- Competitor pricing monitoring and improvements
- Ad hoc project work based on requirement of the Category Managers
The ideal applicant will possess the following:
- Tertiary qualification in Business or Marketing would be advantageous
- 3-5 years’ experience in a fast-paced buying environment as a category assistant, assistant buyer, or assistant in a procurement related role
- Strong negotiation skills
- Strong administrative and organizational skills are a must
- Strong excel capability
- Analytical – comfortable with large data sets
- Marketing minded – strong understand of customer need and behaviour
- A ‘can-do’ attitude with high attention to detail and a strong drive for success
- Well-organized with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels, building strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
- Enjoys working in a fast-paced team environment; able to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
- Ability to show initiative and work with minimal supervision
