Ability to work independently, and assist with laboratory duties as required, to meet or exceed an effective and efficient pathology service
Key competencies (role specific criteria)
You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:
- This is a modern laboratory with a positive culture and a high performing team, so qualities of resilience, well-developed communication skills and ability to contribute positively to a team environment are essential.
- Demonstrated experience in or the ability to rapidly learn pre-analytical and post-analytical clinical laboratory tasks. Proven ability to solve problems and show initiative in the workplace.
- Strong attention to detail, ability to focus in a busy, complex environment.
- Highly developed customer focus with experience dealing with a variety of people and a high-level of awareness of impact of the individual on the overall customer experience.
- Understanding of laboratory quality systems and the requirements of NATA accreditation and ISO certification.
- Demonstrated high level skills, or ability to rapidly acquire in the use of AUSLAB and ie MR with intermediate keyboarding skills particularly for data entry.
- Demonstrated ability to contribute to a positive team environment.
- Demonstrated ability to contribute to quality and service improvement activities in accordance with National Association of Testing Authority/International Standardisation Organisation (NATA/ISO) accreditation / certification.
- Ability to work additional shifts to support planned and unplanned leave within the team.
- Proven ability to manage time effectively in a highly process driven environment with competing priorities.
- While not mandatory, a Certificate III or IV in Pathology (Laboratory Assistance) or equivalent would be well regarded
- May be required to participate in 24-hour shift and weekend roster arrangements.
