The Opportunity
The Contracts Officer will liaise with and support the Research Funding Team and Uni SC researchers in the negotiation and finalisation of all aspects of Uni SC research contracts, to manage risk to Uni SC and facilitate research funding. You will work closely with the Research Funding Team, Uni SC researchers and other relevant Uni SC staff.

You will
  • provide comprehensive administrative support to finalise contracts and agreements for execution, ensuring delegates have an understanding of the contractual terms and risks to the Uni SC;
  • liaise with internal and external stakeholders for efficient, timely, pragmatic and compliant approvals and execution of research contracts;
  • support maintenance of the Uni SC contract template library to ensure quality control and participate in providing education to the Research Funding Team, Uni SC researchers and other stakeholders as required; and
  • identify potential risks to ensure that contract conditions are not detrimental to the interest of Uni SC and achieve successful contract outcomes.
About you
You possess exceptional written and interpersonal communication skills, allowing you to develop effective working relationships with stakeholders, including external legal service providers. With a high attention to detail, you ensure accuracy across research contracts. You demonstrate strong initiative, judgment, and problem-solving skills, supporting the co-creation and implementation of innovative solutions through consultation with stakeholders. Your well-developed time management skills enable you to set priorities effectively, plan, and organise both your work and that of others to meet deadlines.
You will possess:
  • completion of a relevant undergraduate degree combined with experience in contract administration; preferably in a higher education institution; or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • demonstrated experience working with external legislative and governance frameworks and internal organisational policy and governance structure; and a demonstrated ability to interpret legislation, policies and procedures and apply within the workplace;
  • Strong capacity to work collaboratively as part of a team, including supporting other team members on a project-by-project basis and the ability to develop effective working relationships with relevant stakeholders, including with external legal service providers; and
  • high level of digital literacy and comfort learning to use process tracking and information management systems.
