The role
We recognise the key to our success is an exceptional Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person and therefore we are seeking an outstanding individual to be part of our National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Team.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Divisional Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Engagement Coordinator. You will be the key contact point in providing cultural insight, support and guidance to the organisation to build their cultural capability and competency at a state and national level.

Responsibilities include
  • Lead &/or support culturally appropriate activities that support strengthening cultural capability and competency
  • Work collaboratively with our Corps (churches) to enhance and strengthen faith pathways for Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander peoples
  • Provide support to divisional (state/territory) Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) lead stream/department representatives to achieve RAP deliverables
  • Develop strategies and time-frames to engage and communicate the Cultural Capability and Competency Framework elements at a state/national level
  • Engage with national initiatives that refer to training and systems that are required to plan, support, improve and deliver services in a culturally respectful and appropriate manner as identified by your line manager
  • Keep abreast of national and state issues that impact Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
Reporting to the General Manager Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Team, this position is a permanent full-time position, the location is flexible and can be negotiated.

Requirements for the role
  • This is a First Nations Identified Position - You must be Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander to apply
  • Experience in a Christian ministry position would be advantageous
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently
  • Demonstrated experience engaging with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities and service providers
  • Demonstrated understanding of contemporary issues affecting Aboriginal people and Torres Strait Islander people
  • Experience dealing with complex and diverse issues for Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander communities and methods of providing culturally appropriate solutions
  • Current Working with Children's/Vulnerable People's Check
  • Valid Driver’s Licence
