About the role
Viterra is seeking an experienced IT Specialist – Database Administration to join our team. Reporting to the Manager IT Infrastructure Australia and New Zealand and working with our wider IT team, this permanent full-time role will provide technical support of key technologies in accordance with ITIL processes and best practice.

Duties

• Install, configure, and upgrade SQL Server instances and databases.
• Monitor database performance, implement changes, and apply new patches and versions when required.
• Ensure high availability and performance of databases and applications using backup strategies, replication, and clustering techniques.
• Work closely with developers to design and optimise database architectures.
• Ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of the Viterra database environment through best practise based ITIL operational processes such as change management and problem and incident management for both local and remote users.
• Provide point of escalation support to the IT Service Desk and other members of the Support Team.
• Working with the Infrastructure and Applications teams to ensure involved projects are successfully managed.

About you

• A minimum of 7 years proven experience in a similar role is essential.
• Microsoft MCSE desirable
• Professional level or higher certification in a number of the following technology areas is highly desirable:
  • Microsoft Server
  • Microsoft SQL Server
  • Oracle
  • Microsoft Core Technologies
• In-depth knowledge of SQL Server administration, including installation, configuration, and performance tuning.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• ITIL Foundation Certification is desirable.
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to communicate (written and verbal) effectively with a technical and non-technical audience.
• Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and a track record of active participation in change management processes.
• Experience in working with a strong technical team, with competing priorities and high visibility.
• Proven client relationship management – customer focused experience.
