Lecturer: Social Work - Magill (Level B)

  • Part-time (0.6 FTE), continuing position
  • Starting salary: $109,074 per annum (plus 17% superannuation)


About the Role

You will be responsible for the development, teaching and coordination of Social Work courses within the Academic Unit’s undergraduate programs and postgraduate programs and contributing to the Academic Unit’s research agenda. You will contribute independently and as part of a team to support the Academic Unit’s teaching and research outcomes and to carry out activities to maintain and develop their scholarly, research and/or professional activities with a specific focus on Social Work.

Essential Skills and Experience


  • Ph D qualification in an area relevant to social work and professional/industry experience in Social Work
  • Eligibility for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers
  • Demonstrated high quality teaching outcomes with evidence of a strong commitment to continuous improvement of teaching practice and learning outcomes, in on-campus and online settings
  • Demonstrated commitment to establishing a program of research in working with children and families that demonstrates growing publication record, and experience in the preparation of research grant applications and success in attracting research income commensurate with opportunity in the discipline
  • Experience in the supervision of higher degree research candidates
  • Demonstrated high standard of interpersonal ability, written and oral communication skills and the ability to work as a member of a diverse team
  • Demonstrated success in building relationships with industry for the benefit of teaching and/or research
  • High level administrative and organisational skills including demonstrated experience using information systems that support student learning and course administration
