About the role
The Economic Research and Analysis (ERA) unit is part the Transport Policy Branch in TMR's Policy, Planning and Investment Division. The ERA unit performs a range of functions, including:
  • Contributing to the development of robust, nationally consistent project and policy evaluation guidelines and techniques, primarily through representing Queensland on the Australian Transport Assessment and Planning Guidelines Steering Committee (ATAP).
  • Providing advice to internal stakeholders on approaches to conducting economic modelling and economic appraisals
  • Discrete research projects on strategic and long-term economic issues facing the transport system and providing recommendations to TMR's senior leadership
  • Research and analysis on the broader trends impacting on the Queensland economy and transport system to provide TMR with an understanding of the underlying factors driving changes in the transport system, their impacts and how best to respond.
  • Coordinating TMR's approach to broad economic policy issues, particularly where there is shared responsibility across the organisation or Queensland government.

  • Experience in economic analysis and modelling, data analysis and visualisation.
  • Build and sustain relationships to enable the collaborative delivery of customer focused outcomes.
  • Well-developed written and oral communication skills, including strong analytical skills and ability to express complex ideas.
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects and teams to deliver a program of work.
  • Demonstrated experience or a degree(s) in Economics or Business / Commerce / Arts with Economics major(s) or post graduate qualifications e.g. economics; transport planning; financial analysis; forecasting and so on.
