As the Manager Policy within the Agvet Chemical and Contaminants (ACC) sub-program you will be working in a critical position ensuring that the substantial and complex work of the sub-program is delivered. This position is critical to continuing to drive outputs from the sub-program in order to achieve its required outcomes. To achieve this, you will: - Lead and manage the effective and efficient delivery of the Agvet Chemicals and Contaminants sub program and limited life funding projects to achieve outcomes consistent with Biosecurity Queensland's strategic direction.- Provide specialised and high-level policy and regulatory advice and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders including the Senior Executive and Minister's Office, relating to the National Registration Scheme for Agricultural and Veterinary Chemicals, legal use of agvet chemicals, and the prevention and management of residues and contaminants that may impact trade,human health and the environment.- Lead the development and maintenance of legislation, strategies, policies and procedures to agvet chemicals and contaminants.- Exercise significant delegations under the Biosecurity Act 2014, Chemical Usage (Agricultural and Veterinary) Control Act 1988 and the Agricultural Chemicals Distribution and Control Act 1966.
As our Manager Policy (Agvet Chemicals and Contaminants), you will:

Lead and manage the effective and efficient delivery of the Agvet Chemicals and Contaminants sub program and limited life funding projects to achieve outcomes consistent with Biosecurity Queensland's strategic direction.- Provide specialised and high-level policy and regulatory advice and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders including the Senior Executive and Minister's Office, relating to the National Registration Scheme for Agricultural and Veterinary Chemicals, legal use of agvet chemicals, and the prevention and management of residues and contaminants that may impact trade, human health and the environment.- Prepare submissions, briefs, reports, and correspondence of a complex nature relating to agvet chemicals and contaminants.- Lead the development and maintenance of legislation, strategies, policies and procedures to agvet chemicals and contaminants.- Provide leadership focused on new, efficient and risk managed ways of delivering best practice agvet chemical and contaminant policy initiatives and services to facilitate continuous improvement.- Represent the Plant Biosecurity and Product Integrity program on high level forums and committees (including at national level) and in community engagement processes to achieve biosecurity goals.- Work in partnership across Biosecurity Queensland and the Department to help manage and build an effective organisation with a particular focus on policy development, co-ordination and continuous improvement.- Develop and maintain effective relationships, networks and partnerships with stakeholders, including government, community and industry leaders to facilitate effective biosecurity outcomes- Lead a team of scientific and policy officers by fostering an environment that values individual and team performance and continuous improvement that is outcome focussed and ensure that the sub-program's management practices are consistent with contemporary 'best practice'.- Monitor and provide leadership on national and international developments relevant to the National Registration Scheme for Agricultural and Veterinary Chemicals, management of contaminants and other identified policy areas.
