About the Role
The Manager Site Contamination is accountable to the Director Sustainable Development and Urban Renewal for the strategic leadership and management of the Site Contamination Branch. The incumbent is responsible for the regulation of site contamination identified in South Australia and for the development, implementation and management of programs, projects, guidelines, and standards designed to ensure the appropriate management of site contamination in South Australia.
Providing strong and expert leadership and direction, the Manager Site Contamination plays a key and critical role in the implementation of Environment Protection Authority (EPA) policies, the achievement of EPA strategic objectives and the enforcement of the Environment Protection Act 1993 throughout South Australia.

The organisation works to protect, restore and improve the environment through the risk-based regulation of pollution, waste, noise and radiation. The EPA works closely with industry, the community and government to protect the unique natural environment while supporting economic growth and improving wellbeing. The EPA is responsible for the administration of the Environment Protection Act 1993 (EP Act) and the Radiation Protection and Control Act 2021 (RPC Act) and also exercises responsibilities under other South Australian planning and environmental legislation.

Desirable Qualifications and Selection Criteria

• Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering or other relevant discipline. (Essential for PO stream classification)
• Recognised postgraduate qualification in environmental law, environmental management or other site contamination disciplines.
• Detailed understanding of the National Environment Protection (Assessment of site contamination) Measure.
• Good working knowledge of the South Australian Environment Protection Act 1993 the regulations and associated Environment Protection Policies – with respect to site contamination.

Remuneration
MAS3 ($127,859) or PO5 ($124,449- $130,253 per annum) + 11.5% super added to your choice of super fund.
