Are you passionate about uncovering stories and delivering news that matters? We are seeking a motivated Sports Journalist to join our dynamic News Team in Townsville.
This is a great opportunity to work with Australian’s leading broadcast media organisation and propel your journalism career to new heights. Working and living regionally will equip you with invaluable skills, paving the way for amazing long-term success in the industry.
Reporting to the Supervising Producer for Regional QLD, you will be responsible for gathering, editing and presenting compelling local sports news stories in a composed, accurate and engaging manner. This role requires roster flexibility, and a willingness to work extra hours when the news day demands. Other key responsibilities include:
- Developing and maintaining positive relationships with key people and organisations.
- Breaking stories and creating engaging content.
- Representing the Company in a professional and courteous manner.
You’ll be a driven and energetic Journalist, with the ability to think clearly and act quickly under pressure, possessing excellent communication skills to collaborate with different stakeholders internally, as well as externally with the local community. You’ll be able to work in a fast-paced environment, with a focus on tight deadlines.
You will have:
- Proven journalism/ editorial skills
- A solid understanding of media law and ethics.
- Competency in script writing in TV News format
- Meticulous attention to detail with some experience in a newsroom
- An interest in sports
