Position Information

Kiama High School is a large comprehensive school with 784 students, including 42 Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students. We provide a quality learning environment which encourages collaboration and innovation to enrich the lives of all students, and staff are committed to delivering high academic standards in a positive, nurturing environment. The school runs a very successful sporting and CAPA programs and has developed a strong student wellbeing framework. Current priority areas include the development of engagement and high expectations for students with a focus on improving literacy and numeracy through explicit teaching. We also plan targeted and specific professional learning opportunities for staff as well as cultivating and nurturing a dynamic and inclusive community.

Selection Criteria

Approval to teach Italian Secondary and a demonstrated capacity to implement evidence-based teaching strategies to improve student learning outcomes.

Proven ability to implement effective classroom management systems to promote student engagement and meet the needs of a diverse range of learners.

Willingness to actively assist in extra-curricular activities and cultural events in consultation with the school community.

Proven highly developed interpersonal and communication skills with the capacity to work collegially as a part of a team to develop quality teaching programs and assessment

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
