Assistant Principal - Glenroi Heights Public School

Position Information
Glenroi Heights Public School is situated in the city of Orange, NSW on the land of the Wiradjuri people. Our school provides a supportive learning environment focused on high expectations to meet the diverse needs of our students. The school population fluctuates between 210 and 230 students, 59% identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, 5% EAL/D students and FOEI 192. We have nine mainstream classes and five classes to support students with specific needs.
We strive to provide an inclusive setting for all students K-6, promoting quality teaching and learning across all key learning areas. The school culture is built on values of Respect, Responsibility, Cooperation and Safety to develop Strong, Smart and Proud learners. Through ongoing evaluation, as part of the School Excellence Cycle, the school has identified key initiatives which drive whole school strategic improvement. Student growth and attainment delivered through effective classroom practice and effective collaboration. Wellbeing and Inclusion delivered through engagement and connection and student agency.

Selection Criteria
In addition to the general selection criteria,
1. Approval to teach K-6, with demonstrated capacity and experience in balancing exemplary classroom practice and coordination of the complex leadership and management role of an Assistant Principal.
2. Proven expertise in leading and inspiring quality teaching and learning, focusing on explicit teaching and curriculum reform, which drives continuous improvement for a diverse range of students.
3. Demonstrated capacity to lead and evaluate whole school, evidence-based best practice for learning and/or wellbeing initiatives which positively impact on a diverse range of students needs.


General Selection Criteria
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy


Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
