Why Your Role Matters
The Team Leader, Scholarly Information Resources is a key role in the Collection Development and Policy Unit and works closely with the Associate Director, Collection Development Strategies & Policy to continuously improve the Library’s procurement and governance processes of information resources to ensure they are robust, accurate and leading practise.
In this role you will liaise with Publishing vendors around negotiated licencing terms and conditions including open access publishing. You will also be responsible for the operational management of the Library Information Resources budget including accuracy and timeliness of invoicing to ensure uninterrupted access to resources for research and education across the University.
The Team Leader, Scholarly Information Resources provides expert guidance, and support to internal and external clients around publishing models and non-traditional uses of collection resources. The position is fixed term until June 2025 (replacement role due to a temporary internal transfer) and reports to the Associate Director, Collection Development Strategies and Policy. The role is hybrid - the successful person will be working from Sydney UNSW Campus (Kensington).
Who You Are
We are looking for someone who aligns with UNSW’s vision and values and who will come equipped with:
- A degree from a higher education institution with substantial relevant experience or any other equivalent combination of knowledge, training and/or experience.
- Demonstrated experience in the operational management of financial processes related to subscription or acquisition or scholarly resources in an academic library or equivalent environment.
- High-level experience in collecting, interpreting, and reporting complex information and data, especially as applied to collection development statistical requirements.
- Experience in reviewing and analysing licences related to scholarly information resources in an academic or research library setting
- Sound understanding of the scholarly publishing ecosystem, and emerging models that support open access publishing as they apply to a research-intensive university
- Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills. Experience in building positive stakeholder relationships and influencing decision making as needed.
